Moses Mabhida Stadium
World Cup 2010
I am here in Durban and this is truly the warmest place to be! The signs are everywhere and the flags from all 32 countries playing in the World Cup are waving everywhere you go. Here in KwaZulu- Natal aka Zulu Kingdom the sun is shining even during their winter season. The beaches are full of street vendors and fans walking around to the local bars and hotels.
So far I have been to two games here in Durban. One game I attended as a spectator and the other I was apart of the media group reporting. Game 1 was Spain vs Switzerland and the Swiss managed to beat the favored Spain team in a 0-1 match. The stadium here in Durban is stunning! Newly remodeled located on the waterfront side over looking the Indian Ocean. You can even take a rail cart over the stadium to see the beautiful Durban city landscape.
The second game I attended was Japan vs Netherlands and the excitement was the same. There were orange jersey representing Netherlands everywhere and dressed up Japanese Samurai’s representing for their team as well. I entered the stadium with media access and was able to watch the game from under the stadium with fellow journalist and photographers from all over the world. Everyone had either a Macbook or a mini Netbook uploading photos and reporting in real time.
Enjoy the photos! More to come.
